Like this super market very much as they sell local produce and have a great meat selection. Shopping Shaws, I've never gone wrong. I come up to visit my two daughters living here. I Am from Ct. Great staff too.

This tiny store with its narrow aisles, low lighting, and way too few checkout lines, will only crush your overall mood and spirit when you find yourself waiting in the checkout lines, when the store is busy.

So, my girlfriend was here and the selection overall was pretty all right or whatever. But like the worst part of it all was at checkout. The cashier, we'll call her "Angela" was flawless with the transaction. However. I am collecting stamps for the sweet Rachael Ray stoneware and she did not give me my stamps. She was all like"Oh no you diint". It was on her head, but she was thinking it. Anyway, we just wanted the stamps.

So, I guess each town in Vermont has their own version of a disappointing tourist trap. In Waterbury, it's the Ben & Jerry's factory tour. Well here in Stowe, it's this small corner store pretending to be a Shaw's.

Oh, sure the sign out front reads Shaw's, but for the tourists who are familiar with the Shaw's brand elsewhere around New England, don't assume this store to be anything like the Shaw's Supermarkets you have back home.

1) If you are coming from the south from I-89 at route 100, stop over at the Shaw's in Waterbury and remember that you are in an actual Supermarket.

Perfect choice. Good prices

And yet the locals seem to enjoy the inconvenience of it all. How else would you explain that for a tourist town that has so much to offer in the ways of accommodations and activities, is so lacking in an actual Supermarket?

2) The other choice (which is closer) would be to make the 12-minute (8.6 mile) journey beyond Stowe's fraction sized Shaw's up to Morrisville's Hannaford Supermarket. Well worth the drive when it saves you peace of mind.

For those who want to avoid the hassle of it all, there are 2 alternatives to consider instead;

Standard large supermarket. Good selection of food & other groceries.

Stowe, you can and should do better than this... Good Luck.
